Why dont more people care?

I want to do my part. I signed up with One.Org, Im on myspace so I sent out an e-mail asking for support. It was incredible to me the response. I had about 5 people sign up. That alone is amazing, but what about everyone else? I dont get it. I dont see how people can turn away, there is so much suffering, so many lives that are lost each day. It's sad, I get these bulletin posts like, "Are you my friend? if you really are repost this!" and "Survey!" These are insulting when I beg for support from friends I grew up with, people I've known for years...No reply, are we so self involved that we cant take a few minutes out of our day to save lives? To TRY and stop this disease? Im at a loss for words. Someone please explain how this could be. WHY DONT MORE PEOPLE CARE???

Why dont more people care?
A lot of people don't care because they just don't know. Most people won't get passionate about a cause until it touches them personally. So many of us have never experienced, or even seen, actual poverty, so we think it isn't an issue anymore. People think that wanting a job makes one appear and that all jobs mean decent quality of life for the employee. Nevermind that people who work full time for minimum wage can still live in poverty.

It may seem like you're fighting this battle alone, but please know that you aren't and that even by yourself, you are making a difference.
Reply:G'day IamAimee,

Thanks for the question.

It is good to see that you do care.

I will post the address so that others can see it. You can find others who do and get involved.

Thanks for caring.

Regards
Reply:People tend to get wrapped up in their own daily traumas and tend to forget about others.........Especially here in the US, where we have more access to anything (and all the basics are covered) than anywhere else in the world........Just keep on doing your part and being the caring, considerate person you are.......People will come around eventually........Take care, dear.....
Reply:Hi there, Sorry if it seems like people don't care, cause I'm sure they do but I'm not so sure that you went about asking in the correct way. You see, the internet has not brought people closer together but has taken them a bit further apart. Instead of us phoning each other it is far easier to pop off an email. So you sent an email to your friends that your grew up with and have known for years, well good for you!!!! Not, how impersonal was that of you?????? You want them to help but you would rather ask them by what, sending out a group email?

I believe in helping where I can too but from the way you approached "your friends", I think you should be glad you got 5 to sign up at all.

Sorry but no tears for you here.
Reply:I also want to do my part, but maybe for a different cause. Maybe for more than one cause. I want to congratulate you in making a differnce, and inspiring others to do so.

Maybe more people don't care so the world can truly appreciate those who do. People like you. Keep up the good work.
